Migration operation analog TV digital HD
In February 2013, Hipodromo Chile started a process to transform its TV department from SD to HD. For years they have been broadcasting their races in SD and due to International distribution requirements they decided to move into a digital high definition format to comply with new quality demanding transmission standards.
At the beginning of the process they were advised by an Argentinian Company with vast experience in horse race media system implementation. In April of 2013, during a visit to NAB in Las Vegas, Hipódromo executives decided to open a bid for all local providers to participate in the process
After detailed technology revision, Hipódromo Chile decided to ask for the advice of Teletrak TV, a company in charge of the operation and distribution of all horse races live signals around the country to betting agencies. It was at this point where final decisions were taken.
Solution
VGL offered a complete solution based over Grass Valley Technology. 6 LDX state of the art cameras were chosen to cover the race track, plus a LDK 8300 Super Slow Motion camera integrated with K2 Solo and K2 Summit 3G video servers with Dyno S controller for reps and playout. Additionally, Grass Valley Editing systems were also considered to edit locally and over the K2 video servers.
